[I woke up this morning to the sounds of rainfall and melancholy, and soon after a suspension notice for the Gamefly account I have with Beard. We will have to deal with that today or tomorrow - the sooner the better. Oh Dead Island, will I ever get to play you? If not now, when?]

[I resume work on my 4th NG AMV today. I realize that I did not quite make a post on my third NG releases' completion, so today I will talk about it. It is quite the upbeat piece, especially considering that almost everything I make is either dark or depressive; sometimes a blend of the two. I will post the...

[Hey everyone! Sorry I've been gone so long. In the last two months I have worked on a lot of stuff, including something I've been promising to unveil soon, so let's get to the goods!]

[During the development of my second NG AMV [Shadows, Sunshine], I was approached by Ziggy Otaku herself, and was asked if I would be interested in helping her with a series of tutorial videos. You may very well know her name if you indulge in or consume Douijins and hentai of sorts. She is a professional in the arts of Scanlation, and is part of the infamous Soba Scans, and she has set out to make tutorials...

[So, I am here to talk about Limbo today, and how it is a really unique game in terms of visual design, but first, I must lay down a few thoughts]

[It's been several hours of gaming today, getting shit I missed on Alice, Madness Returns for the PlayStation 3 console. After a while, I decided I would transfer my PSN copy of Resident Evil 3 onto my PSP because it is so awesome. And while doing this, I decided that I am fucking hungry, and thus I am cooking a box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese, with bacon bits. Lo and behold, upon opening what may be my hundredth box of this stuff, I discovered...

[I got up this morning, back still a little sore from sleeping all fucked up the other day, and before I could really move around in my sleepy stupor, the phone rang. I stumbled around, eyes watering, the world a wash of distorted color, bumping into everything and hitting my shins on my entertainment center. Finally, I answered the phone, and thus my day began]

[Currently I am working on a few different things. I have nearly 30 seconds of completed work for my next AMV, with at least 2 others planned out. Expect a lot more posts from me on this blog and on the staff review section of...

[Catherine, a puzzle game developed by Atlus, is out now. Made by the Persona team as a way to take a break from the monotony of the Persona series, it made a big splash with its risque trailers and interesting scenarios. It was around June 2010 that the game was unveiled in a trailer, and I kept my eyes glued to the net ever since. Everyday, I woke up and thought about Catherine. And then, in February 2011, it was released in Japan. I started a Japanese PSN account so I could play the Japanese demo. I read article after article on the game. And I waited another six months on the localization....

[It's been a sweet year for fans of PS2/PS1 games that have a PS3. Collections have been rolling out every few months, complete with trophy support and great HD remastering, sometimes with extra features tacked on. With these released, and more collections confirmed and development, and even more rumored to be in the works, this has a lot of people talking. What's next? I present to you my top 5 wishlist. Enjoy!]

    #5 - DragonQuest VIII
[If there was any reason at all for me to play this game again, and HD remaster would do it in a heartbeat. DQ8 had a lot going for it in terms...

[I've been thinking lately about our perception of evil. The number six. Social Security Numbers. Television sets. This might seem like a weird assortment of random things, but in their own day, they were thought of as the utmost in demonic representation. In other words, they were thought to be evil. Work of the devil. Only as time passed on did we accept such things as the norm, and today we seldom live without such devices and systems]

[Why do I bring this up? I dunno. It's my blog. I guess I empty my thoughts into it, as it were a Pensive of some sort. But I do post relevance. The...

[I've been thinking lately about the transition video games have taken from a predominately hardware platform to a predominate software platform. You see, back in the day, we had the Famicom, or the Nintendo Entertainment System for those Americans reading this. It was mostly a hardware platform, meaning your game was more than half composed of hardware when it came to what was running your game and making the experience possible. Everything needs software to run, but in those days, the games were chipsets, Printed Circuit Boards that loaded into an expansion deck on the motherboard of the console,...

[Well, My second NG AMV is done, bringing my total up to 60 completed pieces. I got very distracted during the creation of this AMV, and wondered at times if it was going to join my other 2 unfinished works in the AMV Graveyard. Borderlands was my first distraction, and probably my largest. But! Alas! It will see the light of day, this morning. The download and streaming links are provided below. I hope you enjoy this one]

[In other events, I have completed a project with a new friend, and the change of pace was nice. You can only make so many AMVs in a row before your brains leak out...

[Hey everyone, thought I'd just lament a bit on Vageta's crushed dreams, and my current projects]

[Vageta was the prince of all Saiyans, before his home planet was destroyed. He hoped one day to achieve the legend of Super Saiyan, but then, a lowly third class warrior, Kakarot, stole this dream from him. Heartlessly, Kakarot showed off his might in front of Vageta, and the rest is, well, history]

[Currently, I am still in the writing phase for my new album, I am 25 percent finished with a new AMV, and am juggling 2 new video projects, neither of which are AMV related. I start...

[I have been with RS for a few years. It's been memorable, to say the least. A lot has happened in 2 years, and I think it's time for me to make a change in my life. I want to start focusing on my projects more, and this means less AT9 in cbox. Starting today, I want to start doing more of the things I am passionate about - writing, Video Editing, Gaming]

[Let us cut to the chase. I would like, very much, for anyone who might like me to follow my projects. It would mean a lot to me if I could have support from my RS friends. I plan on running a blog. I have one at Caffeinehead already,...

[Every so often, I play a game where I bleed inside from the amount of awesome that meshes with a bunch of horror stories. Bayonetta is my most recent. It's a game that I have a lot of fun with, but I also have a lot of complaints. They are as follows]

[First of all, what are your heavy and regular hits on a hack and slash? Square and Triangle? Correct, but not on this game. No, instead they decided to put heavy hit on circle, and regular on triangle, putting your 'specials' to square. Ass backwards for most people. Well, fear not! You can change the button scheme....er....did...

[A lot of us know DBZ too well. A tough enemy shows up, and someone eventually gets stronger in order to eclipse the enemy's strength and win the fight. Same old same old. Not that it isn't charming. I love DBZ. But I thought I'd show several examples of how the DBZ movies are different, and how the characters overcome the odds without training. Spoiler alert!!! Do not read this shit if you do not want to have the endings of SEVERAL DBZ Movies spoiled. You have been warned!]

I really enjoy exploring worlds, and RPGs are particularly keen with this. Step outside. Rotate your camera, take in all you can see. Explore a vast world. Adventure games are often good with this as well. But I have also noticed as time has gone on that in-game towns and civilizations are starting to suffer...drastically. With the increasing popularity of side-scrolling and locked-view areas in Adventure and RPG video games, the cheap corner-cutting endeavors of video game developers is becoming more and more apparent.

I do not like my camera being taken from me, but i can deal with...

[You know, I'm honestly amazed sometimes what the PS2 can do. It was first released in 2001, before anyone had thought of or invented HD. So why is it that I recently used 3rd party software to tweak the PS2 memory dump into playing my PS2 games in full 1080i resolution?]

[Yes, that's what I said. You didn't read it wrong. Of course, to some this may not seem like that big of a deal. But for us techs and gamers, It's an amazing feat. If you have an HDTV, then you KNOW what older games look like on it - shit. Not very cool, knowing that it looks somewhat worse than on an SDTV in some...

[You know, when I first heard about Download Content, it was 2007, and Lost Odysee was a brand new game glinting on store shelves. I gotta admit, I was pleased and excited at the idea. To think! A creator of a game could go back after a while and make some more stuff for said game title and it would be completely optional. Therefore, it would be targeted towards the REAL fans of the game, the players that enjoyed the game so much, they wouldn't think twice about paying ten dollars for an expansion. As a matter of fact, I found myself thanking the developers as I paid the money at times. What a...

[Alright. A lot of us have been gaming since we were children. I'm no different. I was playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2 twice a day when I was 6, and I beat it each time. But now I've got some shit to get off my chest. Afterwards, I'll provide a brief summary on game setups that might help some that are confused by this new, crazy world of cables, HD displays and the like]

    [THE HISTORY]

When I was a kid, playing on my Sega Genesis, there wasn't much to know back then. You slapped your cartridge in and played your game, but there were a few key things that could make your gaming...

Yes, not an article by AstroCreep today, but me. We have to mix it up, you know?

I was searching through my stuff today, while doing this I came upon some old game manuals and was hit by a thought: "Damn, back when I was a kid, there were some really awesome game manuals."

Nowadays manuals always seem to be short and uninspired. Often they only have a bare minimum of pages to explain the basic controls and list the usual warning notices. Many are also just black and white with rather low-res pictures that rarely explain much. In this age of high prodcution values...

I've been playing Disgaea 3 for a while now. Quite enjoyable I must say. It's the kind of game you could just sink your life into. I'm more than fifty hours in, and that's barely scratching the surface of what can be done. 2,000 game hours anyone? The most I've done is 140+ and that was on DragonQuest VIII. I'm going for big here!

I have been training characters, and sometimes they die early on me. It's at this time that I implement a nice little feature that's on most - if not all - Atlus games: the glorious 'quit' feature. You quit the game, and are instantly taken back to the initial...

Audio has been an important part of the colossal machine we call the video game experience. Even more these days, with nearly every game filled with in-game voices and cinema lurking around every corner. DTS, Dolby Digital 7.1, even standard Stereo output. SCART, HDMI, the tech is seemingly endless. But for all the audio hardware games now support, are we truly getting an experience that compliments that hardware?

Sure, the sound effects have a huge focus, and those can be downright awesome. However, I have noticed that it has become exceedingly rare for a game's music to not only wow...

I've been sitting here for a while, glancing at my various consoles I've collected over the years. 2 Sega Genesis [second model] and a Sega 3, an SNES, the classic NES, a PS2, a few PSones [which are now in console heaven T_T], a N64 [sold the other one], a Gamecube and a shiny new PS3. With plans to get the other two new-gen consoles, I've been looking at my older ones fondly, and thinking of how much the consoles themselves have really transformed over the years. If you're of mind, I'd like to share my observations with you.

I remember my first video game system. In fact,...

Quality Control. Quality Assurance. Those are words you'll typically find on the credits of your new gen video games. But how much weight does that name truly hold?

I'm planning on playing Paper Mario, the original, today. My reasons are simple; I wanna play a GOOD game, one that has been around for a while. I play Paper Mario a few times a year on average, but this time it's been sitting on my shelves at home, and hasn't been played through in about two years. The reason I like to play Paper Mario is it's a masterful game, filled with many different scenarios, and holyfuck the musical...

[Since CH was started, I have, on occasion, made journalistic-style posts about the video game insights, developer related or otherwise. I also share my personal insights about things that are going on in my life, game related of course, and things of that nature. If you are subscribed to a good magazine, like Maximum PC for example, the editor always shares his insights with a single article each month, and with CH I have tried to to do much the same. The question now is, do you think these are worth posting in the News and Updates Board? I have done so for quite some time []check my older posts...

[For those that wish to skip my latest bitching on Bioware, just skip to the second paragraph, where Bioware is not mentioned]

[I am back from my short vacation, but apparently a vacation wasn't enough to keep me away from the headlines, where I discovered Bioware is once again showing how disrespectful and downright rude they are. They have recently stated that FF13 "is not an RPG, but a corridor crawler" am I the only one that has noticed Japanese RPG makers don't ever insult Western game companies for their style? Sure, Bioware games can be nice. But when it comes down to...

[I have a friend. We grew up with RPGs together. In short, we don't see eye to eye on anything anymore. Found a sweet new game you think he'd like? Just by talking about it with him, he will automatically discredit the game. He hates a game already, just because you mentioned it to him. It sounds like the most unreasonable thing imaginable, and it is, but that's how he is. He's gotta discover it. Furthermore, he's close minded. I don't talk to him about games anymore, or try not to. There's no point. He's not really an RPG gamer anymore. Without realizing it, he let the RPG lover in him die the...

[Hey everyone, is the new design good? I'm personally loving it {is a sucker for solid black with white text} Everyone can feel free to leave their feedback on the sites' new design here. Don't worry, nobody will be mad, I promise ^^. In other news, I was playing my PS2 and noticed the circle button wasn't doing so hot, so I dismantled it and attempted to diagnose the problem, something I've done a few times with PS2 controllers, and dozens of times with multiple systems in total. It was then that Sony's decision to cheapen everything really started to piss me off when I looked inside what used...

[As a gamer, I've recently been guilty of not taking the time to completely enjoy my games. We are all guilty of this sometimes, but let me tell the story. You never know, your gaming life may improve after reading this, I know my gaming life has certainly improved, so I thought I'd share this]

[A while back, I bought Persona 4, a turn based RPG with a mature rating and some slick ass story hooks. Great game. The problem was that as I was playing it, I was already contemplating my purchase of another Persona title. I was obsessed. After all, I was enjoying Persona 4 A LOT. Well, when...

[It would seem that since the new release of Western game developer Bioware's latest title, Dragon Age Origins, they've decided they are the shit, and became cocky. One of the big dogs at Bioware recently decided to criticize Japanese RPGs, saying that they are 'stagnant, lack innovation and have excessively linear stories." Anyone wanna mace this guy? Anyway, besides the obvious fact that unlinear games are a different sorta style than unlinear, and that some gamers dont LIKE non-linear titles, who is anyone to accuse JRPGs, a series of games stemming all the way back to the eighties of unoriginality?...

[It is strange, looking back a few years and comparing that time to now. In 99, I was oogling over N64 graphics. Heh, ten years is not very long, yet look how far we've come. But that isn't what I'm reflecting on right now. Back then, I wasn't a gamer. In fact, In 2005, I wasn't really one either. However, that is the year I began to become addicted to RPGs. This is now, and I am an RPG gamer more than anything, but I am indeed a gamer. I have found that I have replaced novels and the like with RPGs. RPGs are a visual representation of a story. It gives us audio, facial expressions, and many other...
