[Best record of 2009]
[Well, I started this back at Randomsquad, and now the second annual 'best record of the year' is back, now that 2009 has been left behind in the sands of time. I had a difficult time labeling best record of the year today. Lots of great choices. Furthermore, 2009 was a WEIRD year. The Fray kicked off the beginning of the year with a great follow up to their first record. Creed got back together, started touring and released A KICKASS album that totally blew me away. Hoobastank returned with a very good follow up to 2005's 'Every Man For Himself' which was named 'For{n}ever. Insane Clown Posse decided to make a new Joker's card, and heavily focused on making it good, and the results were tremendous and very apparent. Bang!Pow!Boom! is the first good ICP recording to hit the stores since the lukewarm 2002 release of 'The Wraith.' This is most certainly their best album in nearly ten years.
To keep things going, Mudvayne FINALLY released their next album, which was supposed to be released during the summer but wasn't. It was the first Mudvayne album to let me down. Though it is certainly not terrible, it lacks the luster that Mudvayne usually has. Throw in over seven minutes of unecessary sound that does nothing towards making the album better, and you've got a so-so album with over seven minutes of filler. Powerman 5000 keeps on impressing, and 2009 was no different with the release of 'Somewhere on The Other Side of Nowhere.' Great album, and it marks their return to the 'spacey' sound of 'Tonight the Stars Revolt' and 'Transform.' Static-X released a great new record, and Three Days Grace released an album that was disappointing at first. I, by degrees, grew to like the album, but it is not a sound that TDG should keep. I accept the album as a 'concept' album, and that is where, I believe, the sound comes from. Eminem actually returned with 'Relapse' which was a disappointing return, but one I can deal with, considering the fact that it was far better than 2004's 'Encore' and Relapse has some good songs to boot.
Breaking Benjamin released 'Dear Agony' and I must say, its' far better than the disappointing 2006 effort 'Phobia.' Still not fully capturing the MASTERFUL sound of the first two BB albums, they are nevertheless slowly working their way back to the top. Finally, Skindred released some material to hold fans over until the next LP can be released {Considering their history with releasing LPs in a timely fashion, I'm not going to hold my breath too much} but the album was in its' own right, very good. Eight tracks in all, all new material, with the exception of their cover of 'Electric Avenue' which was released several months prior to the new album's release. The mini album is named 'Shark Bites and Dog Fights.'
Well, here it is. Which do I give the coveted award of 'best album of the year'?

[I had a very difficult time. I wont lie. I will present two awards, one for the best rap album, and one for the best rock/metal album]
BEST RAP ALBUM OF 2009
Insane Clown Posse with Bang!Pow!Boom! {MOsEs is gonna be pissed}
I found this album to be a GREAT return to the Dark Carnival, and the lyrics were very, very catchy. From the beginning, I could tell sound wise that they were definitly trying to bring it back. Great rap album. Makes me forget about all the shitty rappers out there and about Eminem's disappointing release. And yes, I like both of them. Suck it hard! You can like both Eminem and ICP...its' possible! Anyway, I can only hope these guys bring us another great album like this in a few years.
BEST ROCK/METAL ALBUM OF 2009
This one hurt so bad to chose. I loved Skindreds, I loved Hoobastanks, I fucking loved Creed's return, I fucking loved Powermans. Only one could be chosen though, and I chose the following:
[Hoobastank, For{n}ever. This album was a great follow up to Every Man For Himself, though it shouldn't have taken so long to come out >_> Anyway, Skindreds was masterful, but had two slightly weak songs and the album was just too damn short to be best album of the year with two songs that weren't up to par. Creed's new effort so nearly made the cut. I just don't get as much enjoyment out of grinding that album over and over again. Powerman's is also great, but I just don't get the replay outta that one either. This album is, in my opinion, the best of 2009]
[Well, I hope you liked this years' 'best album of the year' and I hope to see you for next years' one as well. 2009 didn't have a lot of great albums to chose from for me, which is kind of disappointing. Now, here's the cool part! Why don't you post YOUR favorite album of 2009, and why you thought it was the best? Let's share guys! And may 2010 bring us many great albums to enjoy. I know I certainly have a few I'm already looking forward to] -[AT9]

[Why don't any of you post your favorite of 2009? Also, I didn't have a lot to choose from this year. I am rather displeased it came down to Hoobastank. I like them a lot, but I don't think they should ever claim best album of the year. 2009 was just a shitty year, in some ways]

[I only had about ten albums that were good enough to put up for the debate, probably not even that many] T_T

Re: [Best record of 2009]
Best album(s) of 2009 were:
Tracks one and two out of ten on this album, Louder Then Words
and So Long Sentiment. Louder Than Words bring out a nice hook
and So Long Sentiment presents the melodic trance that with keep
you listening.
And
Tracks three and four of ten, Eon and The Best It's Gonna Get. Eon
really brings out the metal element in Klayton's music and The Best
It's Gonna Get brings out a unique feel.
"Rather than release a standard CD album after all production has
wrapped, Klayton instead chose to break up the album into five chapters
of two songs each. The first four chapters will be released as digital
downloads only while "the fifth and final chapter will be reserved for
the CD, so both the artwork and the two remaining songs will be
released for the first time on the physical CD"
--From Wikipedia--
Celldweller is a Detroit, Michigan-based electronic
rock project that was created by multi-instrumentalist Klayton,
former frontman and songwriter of the bands Circle of Dust, Argyle
Park, Angeldust (with Criss Angel), and many more. Celldweller's
music is multi-faceted, often labeled electronic rock and more
commonly being described as a combination of metal and
trance. Celldweller songs have frequently appeared in movies,
trailers,television shows, and video games.
