Fallout 3
Fallout 3. The world goes into a nuclear war and people go into vaults to protect themselves. When they emerge, the world is a desolate wasteland. It turns into a place for Ghouls, Raiders, Super Mutant Brutes, and crazy religious centered around Atom bombs. You are on a mission to find your abandoning father and ask him why he left. On the way, you fight and steal and kill and explode anything thing you want. You get weapons from anything from a Chinese Officers Sword and a Baseball Bat, to a Plasma Rifle and a Minigun. The innovative V.A.T.S. system gives you a way to aim at different parts of the body with intense precision in a timeless environment. Have fun wandering and killing.

Re: Fallout 3
If you love deep RPGs you should play the first and second games though. They are old as dirt, but the freedom and possible things you can do, especially in 2, are unbeaten by any other RPG, including Bethesda's Fallout 3.
But Fallout 3 is still a great game and RPG on its own merits. Nice graphics, too.
Edit: Oh yeah, the V.A.T.S in Fallout 3 is lacklsuter compared to waht you can do in 1 and 2. You can blast away your enemie's genitals if you so desire (and are good enough with your chosen weapon to hit).

Ya sorry i think your storys a little off soooo....
The Player Character is a young inhabitant of Vault 101, a fallout shelter in the Washington D.C. area. The vault has reportedly been sealed for 200 years until the player's father opens the only door to the outside world and disappears without any explanation. The Vault Overseer believes that the player was involved in their father's escape, and sends the vault's security force to arrest him. This leaves the player little choice but to also escape from the vault, with the hope of locating his father and finding out why he left.
Abandoned to rust, decay, and creeping vegetation, monuments from before the Great War still stand amidst the ruins of Downtown DC the Capitol the Jefferson Memorial and the battered remains of the Washington Monument this desolate area is known as Capital Wasteland. The central hub of civilization in the ruins of the former capital is Rivet City, based in and around the remains of an aircraft carrier carried far inland and beached by a catastrophic tsunami whose waters have long since receded. Other settlements include the towns of Arefu[, Tenpenny Tower and Paradise Falls. Movement between towns is done on foot through the wastes. In the Metro area, through surface streets, and where rubble blocks the streets, you can use the Washington Metro tunnels.
The Brotherhood of Steel community is stationed in the Citadel built in the ruins of the pre-War Pentagon. The mysterious Mister Burke and his employer, Allistair Tenpenny send the player on a mission of sabotage and destruction in the town of Megaton. But it is super mutants, who since emerging from their refuges have waged an unceasing war against humans to invade their territory, and the Enclave - the self-styled inheritors of the power of the United States government - under the leadership of their new President John Henry Eden, who are the player's biggest foes in the game.

Re: Fallout 3
I'm on a mission to punch out every mutant I can find, be they a Yao Guai or Super Mutant Brute. Also, there's a split save file where I try to pants bomb anything I can including Moira Brown, my favorite target. So far, so good. I'm lost as hell somewhere south east of Megaton, but there are plenty of Brutes to punch.
This game has warped me, if I came home and my family was skinned and their flesh splattered on the wall, I would be fine with it, but I would be too scared to open any of the other doors in my house for fear of what's on the other side. Also, I may make a pendant of an XBOX 360 right bumper so I can bring up V.A.T.S. in real life, it's a great system.
I really want to get Fallout 1&2, any suggestions as to where to go? Or should I just find a torrent?

....just a word of warning. 1 and 2 are NOTHING like 3 gameplay wise. They are more free though.

Re: Fallout 3
Good place to go if you do not mind not having a CD is Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2008/
If you need CDs amazon.com is always a good place:
http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Trilogy-3-Pack-Compilation-Pc/dp/B001V9PTVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1263595574&sr=8-1
The Fallout Collection/Triology also comes with Fallout Tactics. Tactics is a bit more... well, TACTICAL.
And to repeat what Moses said (because redundancy is awesome) Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are quite different from 3. They are old school turn-based roleplaying games, they (especially 2) offer alot more freedom than 3 (more than any other RPG that comes to mind, in fact), are more mature and you can shoot people in the groin (YAY!). True to its vintage it has darn ugly graphics though, but well that is to be expected.
A nickname Fallout 3 got is "Oblivion with guns", so if you rather play games more like that you should look into Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series. Oblivion is the newest part of that series.

Re: Fallout 3
@TDSA, MW2 sucks right after a Fallout 3 marathon, VATS really doesn't work against Nick... (maybe he has a vault tech assisted targeting system?!?!?)
I have obtained Fallout and Fallout 2, and after cracking #1 open, I immediately fell right into the old isometric RPG rut. I've been playing for a while, it's great.
Also borrowing Oblivion from a friend ASAP for good measure, which was accidental because he was watching an adoring fan execution when I showed up at his house yesterday. I was interested. As if I didn't already have enough to do in the video game department.

Oblivion is good, yes. I need to actually finish it. I played about 12 of it about 3 years ago and have not played since.
