The non-leap year, leap year.
So the PS3 is bricked for the time being. Everyone with a PS3 that is not a slim one has a very heavy paper weight til the problem fixes itself (maybe) at midnight, or sony relases a update.
The problem, the internal clock of the PS3 "fat" models, thinks this year (being the 4th year of the PS3) is a leap year. Going to Feb 29th as a result, BUT there is no 29th for it to go to. So its little brain has a meltdown and fucks up the system. Only the fat models are affected, but that doesn't say that this wont happen 3 years from now to the slim.
If you know anything about the Zune thing a few years ago, same idea....
Fucking grrr....can't play Mega Man 9....or anything that has DLC, or alot of normal PS3 titles, Heavy Rain as a example.

*would have cared, if his friend didn't STILL have his PS3*
It'll be interesting to see if this happens to the slim, or if Sony is smart enough to put out a patch to just fix it now, before the issue arises.

[That sucks. Sorry to hear that happened to you MOsEs. I did read about this much earlier, but from what I read it was a 'bug' that was affecting 'some' of the fat models, I had no idea it was a clock oriented issue that affected all of them. At least its over for you now]

Yeah, by "some" of the fats, they mean Gen 1 - 3 PS3....which is like 78% of all the PS3s sold.

What's really funny is that the PS3's fixed themselves. Sony did no work. The PS3 simply took 24 hours, and rolled over to March first.
Skynet anyone?
