[This game looks like it will be fantastic. I will write news on it soon via my upcoming RPG thread, but I will impart the release date here. It is set to release in December for Japan and has a Q2 2010 release for the U.S, which is quite disappointing with such a popular title. I will speak more of this later]

Developed by the famed Square Enix,Final Fantasy XIII is going to be released in Japan for the PS3 on December 17,2009.The rest of the gaming world is not so fortunate.For both North America and Europe will receive this title sometime in spring 2010,but FFXIII will be for both the 360 and the PS3.

- The Gameplay
On a lighter note the gameplay is supposed to be very unique.The Action Time Battle has finally made it's way back into the FF world,but it does work differntlly from the previous Final Fantasy's.Users will be able to chain large numbers of commands together in order to achieve attack bonuses.In the battle,the player can only control one at a time out of a party of three.Multiple commands can be stacked into slots per turn and released at the same time to form a combo. The number of command slots increases as the characters grow in strength.The difference between XIII's battle system and the ATB gauge is that these commands can still be placed in the slots even though the bar has run out, and the actions will be executed once the required slots are filled up. This, however, affects the chain combo hits as the combo has been interrupted.Final Fantasy XII does not allow you to use magic outside of battle, and because of this the HP of the party is completely restored after each battle.Sounds Easy right.
The Story
The plot of FFXIII revolves around a the Fal'Cie,biengs created from cyrstals residing inside of them.People who are marked by the fal'Cie for greater purposes are called L'Cie.Every L'Cie has a goal that the Fal'Cie wants them to obtain.The problem with this is that the Fal'Cie does not come right out and say what it is that they want the L'Cie to do.The L'Cie have the ability to summon Eidolons,but this ablility comes at a price.If he/she dies or runs out of time before they are able to complete their goal,they will become a monster known as a Cie corpse.

[I have looked into it, and yes, Enix has indeed moved the release date from April 2010 to March 9th 2010. This is the release date for both the 360 and PS3 releases. The heavens rejoice! Anyway, thank you for bringing this to my attention MOsEs. Plus Clout]

[You are! This game is NOT going to be another 12, and I can tell you many reasons why 13 will probably be good. With 12, Enix was putting all fresh faces on it, and there were no rules about things that had to be in or didnt' have to be in. NOW, after the failure of 12, X-2 and some other titles, they decided to hire some of the old team members for 13, including the FFX battle system creator. Another fact; the ATB system has been brought back, the most popular system of FF games. Another fact, Kitase is producer/director, something he did with Sakaguchi for lots of the original 10 FF games]
[With all this said, Kitase stated he wanted this to 'feel like a final fantasy should feel' and also said that he is modeliing the game a lot like FFX. Don't believe all the shit you read on Sankaku, people in Japan already love this game. Furthermore, the linearty spoken of is actually in how the world map is designed; going from one place to another is a straightforward process. Before you bash that, think about FFX. That game had the SAME setup, and it remains the second most popular final fantasy game]

I'll see what the game looks like, but chances are my next Square game will involve tactics or the Mana series. (If they ever make either of those again.)

[I understand that. Especially considering you've only liked four
or so titles from them. Enix just isn't your cat. Also, ever since Enix
became so focused on being better than Squaresoft/Mistwalker, Enix's
original titles have suffered a lot because instead of trying to make
good games, they are too stuck on watching everyone else's games and
trying to make a game that 'beats' that one out. Enix used to make
great RPGs, and now they are just all about the cash and trying to
outdo someone else]

I have to retract a statement in context, cause Square bought edios and its IPs, I will be buying series (I like) still made by them....under the SE banner. -_-

[Oh yeah!!! I forgot they did that. I was like 'wtf?' when they bought out Hitman and shit. Why the hell? THEY MAKE RPGS! I've never known an Enix title that wasn't an RPG, and it makes no sense for a strictly RPG company to buy out a non RPG company unless they plan on turning those titles into RPGs, or buy out the team that worked for the company to work on those titles]

Well so far Kane and Lynch 2 is the same 3rd person shooter as one, but a bigger budget. I have my fingers crossed for another Legacy of Kain title.

[I wish you luck with that MOsEs, since Enix is a very unpredictable, unreliable being. I can only hope they stay true to what those games are about, and not get all bigheaded and say 'we can make them however we want and they'll sell; we don't need the guys that made the old ones.']
